Chester’s is located in the Shops at University Square in downtown Rochester. Downtown is always a great place to be, especially at this time of year. It was beautiful on Saturday night, lots of Christmas lights, shoppers and people dining out. Chester’s has inside and atrium seating. We asked for first available and after a brief wait we were seated in the atrium area. The decor and vibe inside is awesome. The atrium seating has metal sort of patio furniture and is much more quiet than inside. Either is worth waiting for.
Here’s the dish- First! We ordered an appetizer. If you like mushrooms this is a MUST have. It was on the specials menu last night so they don’t always have it but if they do when you go we highly recommend this dish. It was so incredibly delicious. The mushrooms are stuffed with a simple flavorful sausage and set it a wonderful sauce then topped with shaved Parmesan and a touch of baby spinach. SO good,
This time my husband discovered what has come to be his favorite salad ever – Chester’s Chicken Chopped Salad. He absolutely loved it. With a mixture of greens, rotisserie chicken, hard boiled eggs, sweet corn, bacon, apples, tomatoes tossed in a vinaigrette and topped with crumbles of Amablu cheese. He let me have a couple of taste tests and it was an amazing blend of flavors!
The server mentioned that all of the most popular items on the menu have a “C” placed next to them. the Cowboy Burger did so I ordered that. It was good. In my taste bud opinion it’s not the best burger in town but it is very, very good. it is topped with Vermont white cheddar cheese, Old Smokehouse Bacon and crispy onion strings. I asked for the BBQ sauce on the side. The sauce is good. It tastes like it is vinegar based and is not very thick. Cole slaw was my side and it was in the okay category too. We will definitely go back to Chester’s and order something like the salmon or walleye next time. This was just a casual Saturday night downtown dinner. Looking forward to next time Chester’s! Enjoy!
