Even though it is not located in the Med City this establishment is definitely worth a post because it is easily located within dinner driving distance. The Pioneer Club sits atop the banks of the Mississippi River between Kellogg and Wabasha. It has a classic and comfortable supper club atmosphere. It is a great destination for the local camping and boating enthusiasts along the river with a nice river view. It was a rainy night in June and busy. The server was sweet and kind doing her best to serve us. My son and daughter-in-law both enjoyed the Popper burger which has sour cream pepper jack cheese and jalapenos. Scott and I split the prime rib, which is the Saturday night special. We ordered the queen’s cut. This is good prime rib and definitely worth a trip to try it for only $16.95! It was absolutely delicious served with au jus and done perfectly. They offer the typical sides to choose from and this time we chose the fries and a side salad which were fine. The salad dressings are good and with a dinner order they serve the retro “bread basket” like the supper clubs used to do in days gone by. It contained some dinner rolls, garlic bread and packaged crackers and bread sticks. They offer regular horseradish or a creamy version which is what I had. It was an excellent compliment to the prime rib.

Is the prime rib worth making the trip to this destination on the river? Absolutely! We will definitely look forward to enjoying this destination again.
