We had been anticipating our visit here since they opened and even had reservations in December but an unexpected family event kept us from going. We finally were able to dine there this weekend. Cameo is located on the lowest level of what is now called the Castle which is located on Broadway. The building is historic and has housed different things over the years. It has been renovated recently and looks amazing. The next floor up is a coffee/art and game stop and the top floor is a venue that features music. Ben was our server and he was very attentive, serious and professional.
The menu has some interesting things that you don’t find on a lot of menu’s in Rochester – like chicken schnitzel and a long bone rib eye. It was a Friday night after work so we kept it simple. Scott ordered the wings.
The wings can be ordered in several different flavors. He ordered his favorite- Caribbean jerk. The wings were meaty but in Scott’s opinion- applesauce and pineapple does not go on Caribbean jerk chicken. It was not quite as spicy as he is used to as far as jerk seasoning goes. Good but not delicious. Jerk seasoning is different everywhere you go. I ordered the burger. This is a great burger and the fries are awesome- seasoned and sprinkled with Parmesan. The burger is called the Smash Burger and has white cheddar and pickles on a delicious bun. Cameo has a lot to offer, even a kitchen side bar where the chef will serve you 3-7 courses with a wine pairing. Cameo is a place for everyone and has options that are affordable to all. It has a great industrial contemporary atmosphere that is very inviting and comfortable. It is definitely worth a visit. We will definitely be going to Cameo again.
