Our newest fave! When you walk into this unassuming place and look around it feels and looks like you are waking into your favorite neighborhood bar and grill in a smaller city. Some of the items that we found on the menu did not really jive with what we would expect to find. We liked what we had so much that we went back twice within the next week, Valentine’s Day included. The special for heart day was steak and lobster with the salad bar and a glass of wine for two, for only $55.  We didn’t know what to expect for that price but we were pleasantly surprised with a nice size tenderloin filet done perfectly and fork tender. We were equally surprised at how amazing the flavor was! This is on the regular menu too. The lobster is a special item and not on the menu.

Our first experience at Pappy’s was the weekend before. This place has items on the menu that you might not expect to find at a place like this. The calamari is tender and some of the best in town (and we have tried many). It’s delicious. Here is how they describe it:  Pan fried with garlic butter and tossed with blend of three peppers and topped with scallions served with sweet and spicy dipping sauce. The onion rings are lightly breaded and these too are some of the best that we have tried in town. The menu describes them like this:  lightly marinated and dusted and flash fried served with P’s special dipping sauce.  Another very unique appetizer is something that we haven’t seen on any other menu in town. They call it P’s Scallop Benedict – Bacon wrapped scallops on toast points topped with hollandaise sauce and sprinkled with green onions. If you like scallops you have to try this. A great appetizer creation.

During the last dining experience at Pappy’s we tried the burger and the Friday night fish fry. The fish is is awesome. Lightly breaded with their scratch beer batter, flaky and not greasy. Last but not least, the burger. It’s a good burger. The menu describes the burgers as Local, always fresh, never frozen 100% ground “Certified Hereford Beef” chuck, hand pattied daily on premises. Good burger and Pappy’s has some really good fries.

 

They also have a full soup and salad bar which is offered with most entrees and was a part of our Valentine’s meal package. All fresh offerings of a variety of great salads and delicious soup.

Pappy’s Place is definitely worth considering on your next meal out. Hopefully you will love it like we did. We will definitely be going back again. Thanks for reading and happy dining.
