Beetle’s is locally owned and located on 2nd St SW just across highway 52 west of St. Mary’s Hospital. We talked to Beetle himself. He is a former corporate employee who was laid off. He decided he would pursue something he loved and Beetle’s was born. The atmosphere is super casual and you can seat yourself. Free(really good) popcorn is offered while you view the menu. The menu offers standard bar and grill fare but what we had was very, very good.
The difference here is that they make a majority of their dressings, sauces and batters in house from scratch. The onion rings are awesome in their hand dipped light batter and they are thin cut. I had the walleye sandwich which is hand dipped in the same delicious batter which is light and full of flavor. The fillet was thick but not thickly coated with batter and wonderfully prepared.
Scott ordered the turkey burger with coleslaw. He loved it. It was flavored perfectly and the slaw, which is prepared fresh in house, is delicious!
Beetle’s a great place to visit.
