Mango Thai

Amazing! My sister Jenny, and her husband, Ryan joined us this evening. We always have a great time and they share the love of trying new and different restaurants and food choices. We have dined at Mango Thai before and we were excited to have them experience it tonight. Our daughter Mackenzie joined us too. None of us were disappointed!

Before we went to the restaurant we went up to La Vetta to take in the beautiful city lights view atop the newer building where Terza is located on the corner of Broadway and 3rd St SE. Yes, it is open in the winter too. The garage doors go down and the view is awesome.

Next, we took a short stroll south down Broadway to Mango Thai. There is not much seating in here and we didn’t have reservations so we were pleased to get seated almost right away. They were nearly at capacity. It has a warm, cozy and comfortable atmosphere and the service is excellent.

The ladies all ordered the same dish- Rama Peanut Curry with chicken. Absolutely delicious! Peanut curry sauce over chicken, baby spinach and bean sprouts. All of this goodness is then sprinkled with peanuts. You can have beef or tofu instead of chicken. The peanut curry sauce is distinctive and divine! A side of jasmine rice is served with this dish. All three of us loved it and we highly recommend it. I would order this over and over again!

My husband ordered Shrimp and Chicken Basil. He thought it was tasty but was a little disappointed he couldn’t use his chopsticks (huge fan of them) with the chicken because it was minced. He also only got three shrimp and he thought a few more could have been added to it. The menu states that it is ‘hot spice’ and it was! Those things aside…he thought it was great!

Last but not least- Ryan ordered the  Pad Thai Shrimp Tempura. He said it was delightfully delicious and very enjoyable. Rice noodles in a tangy sauce, bean sprouts and scallions all topped with tender shrimp tempura and served with crushed peanuts.

We all look forward to our next dining adventure! Enjoy!!

  • On a side note…after dinner we went to the Civic Center to watch my nephews, Ryan and Jenny’s sons, Camden and Charlie, perform in the Eagles Cancer Telethon. They are both very talented drummers and members of the Blooming Prairie based drum line Stix of Fury. The director is Jacob Peterson and that young man has done an amazing job of bringing out talent in some youth that they, individually, may have never discovered if it wasn’t for the formation of Stix several years ago. Amazingly talented and disciplined group of people. Their performance was great!
